Eltel  is a leading Northern European provider of technical services for the  infranet  industry within the segments  Service Assurance, Mobile & Access, Build, FTTH (Fiber to the Home), Power and Smart Grid. Being at the forefront of technological development within the Nordic countries, as well as Poland and Germany, Eltel also aims for innovative and efficient solutions within the company.

Their work ranges from maintenance and upgrading services to whole project deliveries, all of which require great amount of coordination and documentation. Carsten Solberg, Project Manager at Eltel, told us how they use  IntelliFinder  to reduce administration, empower  employees and increase transparency for everyone – including the project manager himself.

Empowering employees  through location-based workflows
About 100 employees at ELTEL work with the IntelliFinder app, including technicians, warehouse employees and the admins, such as Carsten.

“With the help of the IntelliFinder  app, our technicians can structure their work themselves. The preventive maintenance work of  telemasters  of our clients can be done within a six-month time frame.  The  IntelliFinder  app notifies them about necessary maintenance work in the area, while the rest of the time the technicians have the option to decide which task to do next – depending on their location and the location of possible other tasks”, Carsten reveals.

How do we use IntelliFinder in our work?

Automating  workflows  
IntelliFinder  combines the  process  workflow with the documentation.  That means the process workflow is predefined and  automatically  includes a photo documentation, which reduces the number of the technicians’ work steps from three to one.

Managing all items of their warehouse  
Carsten mentions: “Within the app, even our technicians’ cars become small warehouses. The  IntelliFinder  app locates all spare parts, whether they are in our large warehouse or in another car!”

Documentation of the work   
Documentation is often a wasteful process, with multiple analog steps, including a paper checklist, a camera and a computer. “With the  IntelliFinder  app it’s all on one device!”

Reducing administration  
The  IntelliFinder  app really empowers the technicians. Carsten explains: “Without me having to interfere with their workflow, they can simply decide on which task to do next.”
More independence of the technicians leaves Carsten with more space to focus on more complex tasks.

Even though his administrative work is reduced, Carsten is not losing oversight of what is happening out in the field: “There are about 70 technicians out in the field daily, working with the IntelliFinder app and I couldn’t ask for more transparency in the process. At the same time, I am automatically up to date about the different projects.”

Being close to the software developer  
ELTEL can rely on always being able to reach out directly to the software developers. This is not only beneficial during the implementation of the app, but also during regular usage. “At  IntelliFinder  it is great to have such a close relationship with the software developers. When I  encounter a  problem with the app, I can speak directly to them. While it usually takes days to solve these problems, at  IntelliFinder  it is merely hours!”, Carsten says.
